My honest opinion.

I really digg the happiness of the beat. I think the drums have a really great sound on them and they don't sound cheesy (like some hip-hop drums out there). Also loving the synths and everything else you have going on back there.

I'm a HUGE hip-hop fan and I love Tupac, but HONESTLY I feel like the vocals do not match up well with this beat. I feel like the beat would be nice just standing alone without the mashup. I know u were trying to go for a fusion of styles of hip hop and dnb (j-pop?) but I feel that this is something really hard to tackle and I'm not feelin it that much man. Sorry.

I'm not gonna vote you down since people seem to have a different opinion (114 downloads) but great job anyway though. Keep on tryin!

NaaaB responds:

ahah i wasnt satisfied also with the vocals match up, took time to try it anyway ^^
Thanks really much for ur opinion man !

SEXY.

You always have that kinda modern contemporary jazz style that just really smooth. Love the bass and that change up at 1:38. Also those filtered and sequenced vocal samples are ILL!

I always wonder what that kinda rhodes-y echoing sample (or synth) it is u use in a lot of your songs...hmm.... It really it your kinda trademark thing, it defines your style.

oh and BTW...F*CK ZERO!! haha

freddyfinger responds:

yes sirhc reviewed one of my tracks i feel special. lol but but im glad ya like it. funny note on that contemporary jazz style thing you mentioned, one of my friends called my music 'barry manilow hip hop' hahaha. well i guess barry is more soul but still funny. i do use that rhodes sound a lot, just somethin about it lol. and yeah this got bombed pretty bad, musta been a bad song title, lol

Don't mean to sound cocky but...

It's in the bag sonn...

Wish I coulda helped out a lil more on the beat side of things but its all good.

That hook is truth btw!!!

[KOA] <===== Don't f*ck wit it.

[KOA] <------refuse to meddle with such things as this here!

haha damn this is ill...

I remember I used to whoop ass w/ pikachu tho on yellow version....even whooped Brock's sorry ass with a pikachu lol.

OK NOW, the actual beat itself. Love the 8 bit feel and it feels like u mastered it so it wouldn't be too piercing. Umm, also love th reverb on the drums, it makes it sound almost creepy and ghostly, which was your goal I assume.

AND I have to give u mad PROPS on that scratch session starting at :51. So ill mannnn. Keep it up and never slow down with the beats. Hope this encouarges u to come out with a beat soon! :D

DJ-Delinquent responds:

lol

its been a while since i got a detailed revue

and you got me on the reverb

thats exactly what i was doin

ill

This is dope man. Glad we got to collab on this. Lovin those conscious, deep lyrics...that's real.

If I had one teeny, tiny little suggestion tho, it's to fix the mixing and levels. Not to pride myself or anything *pops colla* but I think the beat should stand out a lil more than it does. All I'm really saying is just turn ur voice down a tiny bit.

I STILL love the track tho, DON'T GET ME WRONG!

7000, wow. great review man. i got your PM, and yea man it problly just depends on the kind of speaker your listening to it with is all. like my lap top speakers dont have the bass so u can hear everything. i could imagine if u had a deep bass system it would drown the beat out a bit. I got u fam. Great collab here.
your an excellent producer. keep makin em. PEAce!

...that is all. lol

seriously great job tho.

Aries1g responds:

Thanks mayn ! you know meh

I agree with Kingtaco..

...on the vocal part. I think it just might be a tad too loud, or either it need some warm compression or something to help it blend in more w/ the beat. But great job mane. Love it keep up the good work.

RemixF2D responds:

Thx man. This was 1st attempt and didnt bother going back to try at it again.
I have way too many other prioritys to spend money on right now. lol.
Like for instance. Your beat (Abandoned) I wrote a song to that. about how Hip Hop feels abandoned and its excellent. 100x bettr then my lyrics on this one. Stay up for it. Thx for the comment. Stay up Chris. PEace!

This is fresh.

The samples are so chill. and ur right it does progress well, it makes the listener want to hear the whole thing. The transitions to each section are well done. I love how a lot of these synths have sort of an echo effect on them. nice touch.

Some criticism: I think the part at 1:26 may just be a TAD too loud. I also think the bass could have also used a bit of a change up. Like the last two bass notes b4 it loops back on itself (they're both the same not), they could pitch up or down a half-step depending on that guitar strum sound (it's really hard to explain lol).

Great beat tho. Love chill stuff. Keep it up!

haywirehaywire responds:

thanks a lot dude, glad you enjoyed it

really liked it.

The intro really grabbed me. Definitely felt the "chill-ness" in the beginning. I like how u kept it simple too b/c that added to the theme of chilling out in this piece.

SOME CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: I felt like the 808 drum that u used could varied in pitch a little bit more to match the melody. For example at 30 second the melody drops a key and the 808 remains the same pitch (I think its pitch should drop as well). Also, some spacey sounds and some other high pitched noises might do some good (like a vibraphone or something with a varying, melody. Also, I feel like some good bass will also chill out the piece even more (but not too loud b/c you already have the 808 going!)

even tho i have more constructive criticism doesnt mean I dont like your piece just so you know. I really do like it. but those are just my suggestions. Otherwise, I think you've done a good job with this one. I be watching out for more from you.

Kannon1 responds:

Thank you for the the critique! I really appreciate it and I will adjust it. I actually love this beat. It's mellow and spacey and even though it's my beat, I still feel entranced by it. Thank you.

wooo too smooth...

soo sick man. Once again I love ur style. This mess is smooth beyond belief. Those drums have a really jazzy bump to them and love the voice, sax, and organ.

I also have to say that short 2 second intro really grabbed me for some reason. You really know how to drag people in and listen to the beat. uhhh...wut else, wut else...umm I guess the last real thing I can say is is great job with the progression of the beat. It doesn't feel repetitive at all. Great job mane.

freddyfinger responds:

thanks a lot man, really appreciate it
